PROJECT LOCATION

The Chill Box Thurrock. Essex

The existing chilled storage premises have been taken over by Gousto as part of their UK expansion programme.

Extensive alterations were required to enable systems to be installed including new automated conveyors.

Client project brief.

The client required 6 New openings to be formed in the existing insulated walls for the new conveyors to pass from internal packaging to external transport on the  loading bays .

The clean hygienic environment was an important factor in our method of working and the approach to clearing debris

Diacutt were responsible for Temporary Support Works supplying the Structural Steelwork and forming clean openings.

Cladding Being Removed

The cladding and insulation were removed from the walls where the openings were required to provide access to the structural blockwork walls.

Installing Temporary Support

Needle holes were formed by diamond stitch drilling to form openings to pass our steels through.

With the Steels in position our operatives installed Super Props between the Steels and Timber spreaders to support the wall whilst we carried out the forming of the openings

Forming The Openings

A Diamond Hydraulic Hand Saw was used to form the full depth cuts.

The cores removed to form the Needle Openings can be seen on the right hand side of the photo.

The blockwork was carefully removed after full depth cuts had been formed to define the required openings.

Please note the cleanness of cuts made.

Steelwork Installed

With the openings formed we then installed the steel frames to the various openings

On certain openings 3 steel frames were required to support the blockwork walls and cladding on either elevation

Steel Spacer  Bars were required between the beams to maintain lateral support .

The project had to be carried out to a strict programme where each area was made available at a specific time to fit in with the other works and had to be completed without delay to following trades.

This was completed on time in each part of the programme with a successful interface between Diacutt and Pexhurst the Main Contractor.

The families receiving their prepacked meals would not be aware of what goes on behind the scenes to put their food on the table.
